People with Diabetes Advisory Committee

Emily is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with Cornell’s Pediatric Endocrinology Program and the Chief Nurse Practitioner for Cornell’s Pediatric Ambulatory Sub-Specialty Practice. She has worked with children with diabetes for the past 19 years as both a RN and a nurse practitioner. She is the Co- Director for the Pediatric Diabetes Program at Cornell and leads the transition program. She has had diabetes for over 35 years and despite originally trying to avoid working in diabetes, she has now made it her life goal to improve the lives of kids and families with diabetes.

Jeniece Ilkowitz RN, MA, CDCES is a research nurse and diabetes educator at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, Pediatric Diabetes Center. She has worked on many NIH, industry, and Investigator initiated studies, as well as QI projects and was T1D exchange QI coordinator of the year 2022. She has been living with T1D since age 4 along with her sister (diagnosed age 13) and mother (diagnosed age 9). She has always been active in diabetes advocacy, camps, and groups. Jeneice’s daughter was diagnosed at age 8 and has been living with T1D for over a year so adjusting to the new role as a parent has been a journey as well.
