Carol Levy, MD made introductions, reviewed the meeting agenda, and introduced our guest presenter Lauren Golden, MD, NYU Langone Health and her topic: Twiist and Pregnancy
- Dr. Golden did a deep dive on 3 people seen at her clinic who are currently pregnant.
- After providing a brief history on each person, Dr. Golden also reviewed their basal insulin, carb rations and sensitivity, time in range (TiR), and compared their pre-Twiist and post-Twiist results.
Discussion:
- Discussion occurred about genetic testing for these expecting mothers, as well as other resources for pregnant women with T1D.
- Dr. Golden informed the group that she was more data available for each of these cases.
- Twiist and meal bolusing and their relationship with different stages of pregnancy were discussed.
- Additional discussion occurred about how each center manages care for pregnant women and their collaboration with Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM).
- Dr. Levy mentioned Viral Shah, MD, Indiana University's publication on two similar cases, and how there is a lot more to research these three cases: CGM, billing, data interpretation, and possibly paying for CGM usage were discussed.
