    • Gwendolyne Anyanate Jack, MD, Weill Cornell Hospital, welcomed the group and opened up with an ice breaker about things that recently brought us joy.
  • 2025 Annual Survey Questions were reviewed.

    • Q7.5 Have you or your diabetes center made changes in clinical care or research in response to recent changes in federal funding? Yes, no, unsure or prefer not to answer

      If yes- *Clinical Care, *Research/scholarly activity, *Advocacy.

    • Discussion also occurred about adding “other” to 7.3 and 7.4.
    • This feedback will be shared with the annual survey developer team.
  • 2026 Annual Survey Equity Questions: Discussion
    • Discussion occurred about what to do for new questions regarding the 2026 Annual Survey questions.
    • This feedback will be shared with the annual survey developer team.
  • Race Reporting and Multiracial Data Handling
    • Tim reviewed four different methodologies for reporting racial information in healthcare.
    • Discussion occurred with most participants feeling that the first and fourth approaches were most appropriate.
    • The group unanimously prefer approach 4. People prefer when % add up to a 100%.  
    • This feedback will be summarized and shared with the Data Quality team, who will use it in the QI Portal development.
  • HEAL Manuscript Development
    • Ashley Butler, MD, Texas Children’s Hospital, provided a brief update on the manuscript.
    • The data collected isn’t exactly suited to their needs, a new outline is being drafted.
  • Closing and other announcements:
    • Please submit abstracts by July 31st, 2026.
    • The HEAL Committee Outlook Group will be recreated to address access issues. Please be on the lookout for a new Outlook group and possibly new Outlook meeting invite.
