  • Add a QR code linking to more information on continuous glucose monitors (CGMs)
  • Clarify the distinction between CGMs and insulin pumps, as these are often confused
  • Include images of different glucagon products, similar to the pump visuals
Health Equity Discussion
  • Explore translation of materials into additional languages
  • Highlight use of tools such as the Google Translate app (e.g., translating documents via photo)
  • Recommend adding subtitles in multiple languages to educational videos (e.g., Baqsimi video) to improve accessibility
  • Next Steps: Claire and Nicole will work in the discussed revisions and work with the Marketing team to finalize these documents. We will share with the group when complete.

Prior Authorization (PA) Discussion

Discussion focused on potential annual survey topics and the burden of prior authorizations for people with type 1 diabetes (PWT1D).

  • Key Points:
  • PAs can act as barriers to insulin and essential supplies
  • Existing standards of care may be undermined by administrative requirements
  • PAs are not always thoroughly reviewed
  • Delays can lead to:
      • Increased stress
      • Emergency department visits
      • Hospitalizations
      • Rationing of supplies

  • Data Needs:
    • Evidence demonstrating the cost impact of delays on payers
  • Suggested Improvements:
    • Reduce (but not eliminate) the number of PAs
    • Extend PA approval time periods
    • Establish a fast-track process for diabetes-related needs
