AID HCL Group 4/24/2026 – Meeting Minutes
Participants: Tim Bol, Cari Berget, Carol Levy, Abha Choudhary, Alexa Brett, Alyssa Dye, Andrea Huber, Camilla Levister, Don Buckingham, Grace Nelson, Erin Cobry, Jenise Wong, Lauren Golden, Marina Basina, Ori Odugbesan, Ruth Weinstock, Sam Goldklang, Sarah Rancic, Siham Accacha, Sophie Baum, Rohan Maini, Mili Vakharia,
Carol Levy, MD made introductions, reviewed the meeting agenda, and introduced our guest presenter Cari Berget, MPH, RN, CDCES, Instructor, Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, University of Colorado, and her topic: Twiist AID System.
- Cari works with Type 1 and Type 2 pediatrics.
- Cari provided a detailed overview the Twiist pump and it’s smaller, more convenient size, algorithm, and iOS compatibility.
- The device is approved for use in individuals with Type 1, six years and older.
- Adjusts basal rates every 5 minutes based on a 6 hour predicted glucose horizon.
- Features were reviewed: pre-meal preset, workout preset, and absorption emojis.
- Clinical Considerations: data is comparable to other devices; many customizable options, adjustable settings, and interesting features.
Discussion occurred:
Cari’s presentation generated a lot of questions and discussion. Concerns about the infusion site being unreliable, confusion regarding presets, and other issues with the device preventing it from being the best option for most people on AID.
Dr. Levy closed out the meeting discussing how we can use the work and support done by this group. – what the general purpose of this is, education, and supporting people. Put together an abstract of “what we do here” and turn it into a manuscript to have out there to show what this group has done and what we can do.
