Participants: Tim Bol, Ashley Butler, Nicole Rioles, Margarita Ochoa-Maya, Ananta Addala, Gwendolyne Jack, Jenise Wong, Jody Grundman, and Shideh Majidi

Welcome & Introductions:

Ashley Butler, MD, welcomed the group and introduced the new committee support staff Tim and Ori (who is out of office today).

Manuscript Outline Discussion:

This manuscript is from the 2025 Annual Survey results and ADA abstracts, topic of Correlation of Minoritized Ethnicity Representation Between Patients and Staff of Diabetes Centers Involved in the T1D Exchange Quality Improvement Collaborative and Common Barriers to Health Equity and Factors Actively Addressed to Improve Health Equity in the T1D Exchange QI Collaborative. The data/results/discussion will cover at various equity initiatives that individual clinics are implementing and focus the paper on reporting how the multidisciplinary teams are working on health equity and outcomes, such as creating equity interventions that are implemented by community health workers, psychologists, physicians, and patient advocacy groups.

We will circulate a draft and are actively identifying target journals. Dr. Butler asked the group for input and reviewed the scope of the manuscript’s different buckets. Please email your feedback for the document to Drs. Butler and Dei-Tutu.

Nicole mentioned the BPA project and the health equity work they are doing to remove biases and help get people on AID. Unfortunately, race/ethnicity data isn’t yet available, but she believes that this committee can be helpful in setting up interventions to help remove inequities. She will share the results with this group when they become available in August. Public and private insurance data is also being collected and will be analyzed.

Margarita would like to contribute to the manuscript. Tim to add her.

Closing:

Dr. Butler provided a warm handoff of chair responsibilities to Dr. Gwendolyne Jack as the new chair of the HEAL Committee.
