• Timeline overview
o Concluding 1-1 IT calls in April 2025
o Go live JSU: May 5, 2025. Participating centers: July 2025

• Authorship timeline
o Focus groups: July 2025
o Survey August 2025
o Development and Integration Sept-Oct 2025
o Impact Nov-Dec 2026

• JHU updates
o BPA went passively live April 1, 2025. Reporting in slicer dicer (11-day report)
o LADA will be removed
o Recommendation- have slicer dicer by unique patients, not firings to determine- if you were successful in the encounter.
o Some clinicians didn’t want it to fire for learners. JHU will fire for fellows, etc. Some clinics do not want residents to see them because of their high rotation. Residents should defer if they don’t know what to do.
o Just firing in endo space, not in ED, etc.
o Question about embedding in smart phrases/notes sections
o Want med list and problem list to be improved through this process. If on both, it won’t fire
o Important to develop a plan to keep the problem list/med list updated.
o Use issue: if they are really not on the device anymore. Then will re-fire another time.
o Concern about what happens if someone marks something on the BPA during pre-charting, but the patient doesn’t show up.
o Firing for prescribing providers only
o Juan mentioned changing measures to unique patient encounters.
o Juan shared: for a Smart Link to use in your note, the foundation Smart Link should pull the last documented SDE value. your org may have variations of that Smart Link to use as well
• Training on interacting with BPA
o Once an option is selected, it cannot be brought back for that visit—> will fire in 90 days if patient meets criteria
o Pre-charting best practice: can mark if objective data about use available e.g. T-connect/Glooko. Otherwise, best to ‘defer’ until able to interact with the patient

• A few additional thoughts/questions:
o Balancing measure: Are we considering collecting any data on additional(perceived) burden of interacting with the BPA at all? Or some way to get feedback from providers if this process is not helpful in their clinical workflow?
o And along those lines, is there a way to share data from this project with the participating sites at certain time intervals along the 12-month mark? This is done in the MOC part 4 QI projects. For e.g. like you shared initial data today, if we can share this with our teams, they will be able to see the value and potential difference it makes and may also be a set opportunity for a PDSA cycle. This could be clubbed with a simple 2-question survey perhaps to collect the above balancing measure data?

• Next steps: if your team hasn’t met with JSU, set meeting ASAP so that meeting in
April. Future questions can be asked directly to Nes and Josephine.
