Type 1 Diabetes Mapping Updates
- 46 centers fully mapped (from 43 centers in Q1)
- 6 in validation phase
Type 2 Diabetes Mapping Update
- 4 centers in production
- 5 centers still in the mapping process
DKA Variable Mapping Update
- Improving how DKA events are captured and displayed on the QI Portal
How they are currently captured:
- Metric: dka_events_inp = Number of DKA events reported since last ambulatory, outpatient, or equivalent visit
- Data tied to the date of the visit, not the date of the DKA event
- QI Portal displays number of DKA events reported per month
- This leads to… Misalignment in timing: The event date ≠ reporting date
- May under- or over-represent DKA events in any given month
- Limits ability to: Accurately track DKA trends over time and respond in real-time to spikes in DKA events
Proposed update to capture:
- Capture actual event date of DKA requiring hospitalization
- Update QI Portal to reflect date of occurrence, not just reporting date
- Adjust logic to count DKA events by their event timestamp, not visit timestamp
- This will… Show accurate representation of when DKA events occur
- Improved visibility into monthly trends
- Enables timely interventions
- Better alignment with real-world patient outcomes
Next Steps:
- Adjust, Review and approve proposed change to data specification (with DSC)
- Coordinate with reporting team to update portal logic
- Educate clinical teams on new data interpretation
- Brainstorm ways to capture on an individual patient level
Next meeting: Tuesday August 19th 2pm EST
