    • Tracking risk/forecasting outcomes, such as DKA events and rising A1c

  • Clinical Presentation: Oregon Health and Sciences University, Ines Guttmann-Bauman, MD
    • Addressing tech bottlenecks (lagging pump starts)
    • Changing assessments, documentation, pathways, and education
    • Used QI tools to identify opportunities (fishbones, key drivers, run charts)
    • Increased educators and certified pump educators
    • Offering two classes per month with capacity to train 28 PWD monthly on pump training

 

  • Clinical Presentation: University of Wisconsin, Elizabeth Mann, MD
    • Increasing equitable access to AID
    • Pump use has plateaued at 55% with non-Hispanic White PWD using at higher rate than Hispanic or non-Hispanic Blacks and publicly insured PWD were less likely to use pumps
    • Adjusted smart aims to be inclusive and equitable, with goal to decrease race/ethnicity access disparities
    • Host tech fair for pump/AID education
    • Future direction: high risk pump start protocol, pump checklist

    • The T1DX-QI November Learning Session will be held Monday, November 11, in Chicago, IL. ​

    • Achieving Diabetes Equity in Practice Today
      • T1D Exchange, in collaboration with the ADA, will be hosting a new diabetes equity focused conference titled, ADEPT. ADEPT 2024 will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, November 12-13 following the T1DX-QI Learning Session 2024 in Chicago, IL.
