Andrew Welch, DO

University of Cincinnati Health

Dr. Welch is a proud person with type 1 diabetes and an adult endocrinologist with the University of Cincinnati. He has been a member of the T1DX-QI Collaborative since 2025 but has quickly established himself as a motivated voice to measure and improve transitions of care in diabetes through his work as the director of the DIRECT Clinic at the University of Cincinnati (facilitates pediatric to adult transitions with CCHMC). His research focuses on measuring and eliminating interruptions in access to essential diabetes technology supplies and fixing the discrepancy between “marketed lifespan” and “actual lifespan” of diabetes technology supplies. He is driven by the goal to reduce suffering from diabetes.
