Data Governance Committee Meeting Minutes, May 7, 2026
Attendees: Grace Nelson, Dan DeSalvo, Priya Prahalad, Marina Basina, David Hansen, Georgia Davis, Janine Sanchez, Ryan McDonough, Ruth Weinstock, and Nicole Rioles
- Discussed Committee changes
- In effect after 5/31/2026
- Single committee for both Data Governance and Data Science
- Doodle Poll will be sent out next week to ask schedule preferences. We will host two meetings btw June-Dec 2026.
- We will continue to share data use requests, ad hoc, and sometimes via email for efficiency.
- Plans for the new Data Governance and Data Science Committee
- New Co-Chairs for the newly formed Committee will be Dr. Nirali Shah from Mount Sinai Adults and Dr. Siham Accacha from Cohen Children’s/Northwell Health. For leadership handoff, T1DX-QI will schedule a hand off meeting with the existing Co-Chairs of both Committees and the new Chairs.
- We anticipate having more opportunities, with the larger Committee, to delve into specific topics. It would be helpful to know members’ areas of interest from the following:

- Data use requests (internal, Collaborative network, QI, research, grant applications, sponsored projects, etc.)

- Updating the data spec

- Working on EMR/device integrations

- Epic flowsheet development and dissemination within Epic and the network

- Predictive analytics solutions

- Data mapping solutions: how can we make this easier for newly mapped centers? How can we make changes/updates more sustainable for already mapped centers?

- Discussion items
- Priya will share an Epic link to make it easier for Epic using centers in the Collaborative to find templates, etc, for download.
- Discussed the idea of hiring IT contractor to do work embedded in hospital IT dept. to help cover bandwidth issues. Challenges identified include approval bureaucracies. T1DX will continue to share updates on these kinds of proposal so that clinics can have options/opportunities for data support.
