Standard Practice for Treatment for Neonatal Hyperglycemia who develop hypoglycemia?
For neonatal hyperglycemia who develop hypoglycemia (due to exogenous insulin): what is your standard practice for treatment? Do you treat with simple sugar first or just proceed with feeding? Do you confirm resolution with a finger(toe) stick or would you allow CGM glucose >70 as documentation?

I received a response from Dr. Thornton on this question as he is our expert with anything hypoglycemia. He said “We would treat with a feed and recheck in 15-30 mins for both our HI kids and our neonatal diabetes. We would only use a modular carbohydrate for failure to respond to a feed but we are quick to use glucagon for glucose <50 mg/dL"
