Center Sharing:

Center Presentation Assessing Health Literacy in Pediatric Type 2 Diabetes, Alissa Guarneri, MD MBOE, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center

Dr. Guarneri provided background on her clinic and the team that worked on this health literacy QI Project.

Discussion occurred about helping to easily identify medications by including photos, whether or not this survey was validated, and the differences between age groups within the larger pediatric bucket. The aim of the questions is for an 8th grade reading level, but it was brought up that 6th grade reading level is the standard so the survey should be updated to accommodate this.

Dr. Bianco suggested developing a survey for the entire group and submitting it.

Data Mapping Update:

UTSW and Megan Kesley (CHCO) requested to be added to the T2D data worksheet.

UPMC is switching to Epic which is negatively affecting their ability to get data mapped.

Miami is very close finishing the process.

Seattle will check with their team.

Megan Kelsey, MD has a project but will need more time. Tami Hannon, MD is doing QI with the diabetes questionnaire and may be ready to present at the end of the year.
