IMPROVAID QI Project meeting minutes, 7/10/2025
Participants: Tim Bol, Ori Odugbesan, Stephanie Crossen, Nestoras Mathioudakis, Kai Jones, Arati Nagarkar, Nicole Rioles, Camila Levister, Marina Basina, Shaziah Hassan, Grazia Aleppo, Deborah Plante, Casey Rust, Trevon Wright, Priya Prahalad, Mindy Lee, Hailee Delsart
- Introductions were made.
The following centers provided updates on their PDSA planning:
- Stanford Adult – Kaveri Bhargava provided their timeline and AIM statement. Three PDSAs were presented: develop an EHR dashboard for tracking; create SOP for AID documentation in EHR; and create a BPA for people with T1D not on AID.
- Stanford Pediatrics – Mindy Lee, MD, presented their center’s effort/impact matrix tool with and displayed their selected interventions. She also shared 2 PDSAs: implementing DIABPUUMPORDERFOLLOWUP smartphrase, and a diabetes education series with CDCES.
- Washington University – Kai Jones, MD, provided background information on her center and presented which change ideas they are focusing on. She also shared their first PDSA objective, which is to ensure expedited f/up care within 2-3 weeks after a DKA event discharge. A second PDSA was also shared, where the center hopes to increase knowledge of available pump technologies to fellows.
- UC Davis Pediatrics – Stephanie Crossen, MD, provided background information on her center and shared baseline data for diagnosis to pump order and pump order to pump start. She provider smart aim statements to reduce the interval in these times.
- UC Davis Adults – Deborah Plante, MD, nothing new to report.
Discussion occurred about a question posed by Grenye O’Malley, MD, who was unable to attend the meeting today regarding Parachute and how to best integrate it into workflows as well as its lack of EPIC integration.
Mindy Lee, MD, PhD shared the SmartPhrase template that they use at Stanford Children’s to address delays in AID initiation with the group.
