Diabetes Distress Meeting Minutes, 11/22/2024 

 

Training for Diabetes Distress at the Learning Session in Chicago 

• Let by Katherine and Ryan and colleagues from Lurie Children’s 

• Slides from training can be referenced on the Diabetes Distress Workgroup page 

• Reminder: if you would like to use the PAID or PAID T screeners, and you haven’t yet, please email Jill for her permission 

 

Updates 

 

Nationwide 

• 3 psychologists in place 

• Planning to add screener to MyChart, planning 3-4 days before visit. Will implement beginning 1/1/24 

• Using PAID T 

 

Michigan Adults 

• Presented to patient advisory group on the tools that are available 

• Referring to social work 

• Referring to diabetes support group 

• Future plans (will share outcomes from this) 

• Survey faculty on their experiences 

• Adding 1 question to patients 

 

OHSU 

• Sees the value of the shorter DDS screener since the first 8 questions are identical for T1D and T2D. 

• They have been focusing on data mapping 

 

Seattle 

• Still considering the flow of having content going to parents of kids until the children are 12 years old. 13 and above goes to the child/adolescent. 

 

University of Alabama 

• Interested in implementing the Parent and Teen PAID 

• Shortlist for parents? If both high, have conversation again 

• Plans for a December implementation plan 

• Currently using CAD and Depression (PHQ) screeners now, annually 

 

Next meeting: we will skip December meeting. Next meeting planned is 1/24/2025.
