Diabetes Distress Workgroup Meeting, 4/26/2024
Attendees: Don Buckingham, Michelle Coulter, Jennifer Iyengar, Nicole Rioles, Alissa Roberts, Devin Steenkamp, Ryan Tweet, Heather Yardley
BMC Adults
- Struggling with flowsheet
- Staffing challenges (3 MAs have left practice)
- Need automation in flowsheet (manually putting into Epic)
Seattle Children’s
- Making auto-assignment for visit types for 12-13 year olds to include them in the screening (getting implemented hospital wide)
- Challenges with parent protection laws (different rules for children who are 12-13 which are public to parents; 13+ are private)
Michigan Adults
- Showed content during meeting of workflow/flowsheet/documentation of DDS in practice
- Provided overview of using Slicer Dicer to get gate
Nationwide Children’s
- Using Ipad in clinic- data is getting incorporated into Epic
OHSU Oregon Adult
- New patients – filling out in lobby
- MA enters into flowsheet using a dot phrase; Scrores written into notes
- Right click and assign screener before getting entered into flowsheets
- Higher success with virtual visits
- Interface looks similar to survey on website- entering into flowsheet
Discussion topics:
- Some discussion- questioning the value of PHQ. Group agreement that DDS is “more useful”
- GAD and PHQ used because of USNWR
