  • Thank you to all past co- chairs and welcome to new co-chairs of the working groups, who will begin their terms in June 2024. They include:
    • Clinical leadership: Carla Demeterco-Berggren from Rady Children’s and Francesco Vendrame from University of Miami
    • Data Science: Ryan McDonough from Children’s Mercy and Nirali Shah from Mount Sinai
    • Data Governance: David Hansen from SUNY Upstate and Georgia Davis from Grady Memorial
    • Publications: Stephanie Crossen from UC Davis and Halis Akturk from Barbara Davis
    • People With Diabetes Advisory Committee: Jeniece Ilkowitz from Hassenfeld Children’s and Emily Coppedge from Weill Cornell
    • QI Champions: Blake Adams from Le Bonheur and Lydia Holly from Children’s National
    • HEAL: Ashley Butler and Selorm Dei-Tutu, both from Texas Children’s Hospital
    • International Collaboration Chair: David Maahs from Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (Stanford)
  • Working group updates
    • Hybrid Closed Loop
      • Aim to increase use by 10% from baseline
      • Systems challenges and PWD factors (insurance and personal barriers)
      • Creating Prior Auth templates, best practices shared by center
      • Group developed a 13-question survey. There is interest in distributing to whole Collaborative. Request made to Clinical Leadership.
      • Request: transparency in learning how these devices are working in the real world
    • Transitions of Care
      • Aim: leverage Got Transition 6 core elements to guide efforts
      • Adult centers interested in joining: Stanford, SUNY, and UC Davis
      • Local NYC hospitals are communicating transitions across their centers
    • Diabetes Distress
      • Aim to increase Diabetes Distress Scale screening and incorporating DDS (19+ YO) questions into EMR systems
      • Teen Distress scale (PAID-T) also being implemented, 12-18 YO
      • Interest from group to see Epic integration, flowsheets, and details on how Michigan Adults has offered MOC credits for the DDS intervention work

 

  • Monogenic diabetes
    • Building a consortium so that there are enough patients for centers to learn, collectively. PREDICT member institutions: Stanford, Michigan, Barbara Davis, Baylor College of Medicine
  • Reminders from the Collaborative
    • Please join us for the Faculty Breakfast at the 2024 ADA Scientific Sessions in Orlando, FL. Breakfast will be held Sunday June 23rd, from 6:30-9 am EST​ RSVP (link)​
    • Upcoming T1DX-QI Conferences:
      • 11/11 QI Collaborative conference. Happening over one day. Attendees can plan to fly into Chicago Sunday evening, 11/10.
      • ADEPT (Equity conference) Happening 11/11-11/12 in Chicago, following the Learning Collaborative conference.
      • Learning Session conference abstracts are now open: Please submit your abstracts using this link.
