April Parent Patient Advisory Committee Meeting

Attendees: Jeff Hitchcock, Jessica White, Stephanie Wurtz, Craig Bobik, Britaney Spartz, Jeniece Ilkowitz, Amy Ohmer, Katie Hester, Holly Hardison, Nicole Rioles, Jane Dickinson

Agenda:

• Brainstorm sick day guide dissemination ideas
• Discuss creating a resource guide to help clinics engage PWD and their families into care team QI projects
• Discuss November 2023 Learning Session

Sick Day Guide:

• Share at Friends for Life (print packet and add guide QR code to magnet)
• Translating: check with local university for students who could support translations
  • Jeniece willing to help with translation
• Send sick day guide through T1D Exchange Socials

Resources engaging PWD:

• Ask those who are already involved how they were approached
• A guide for best practices
  • Reach out to clinics who do engage and request that we use their best practice examples to make a guide
• Look at roadmap guides
• Create a list of how other clinics engage families
• Ask clinics to think of how to engage all family voices
  • Ask at each visit so that everyone is represented
  • Make questions simple/fast so that it doesn’t take any time (suggestions: votes with smiley faces, tokens, 1 yes/no question, creative physical spaces where comments/suggestions can be added.)

2023 November Learning Session:

• Create 2 Abstracts
  • 1 aimed at clinics
  • 1 aimed at families/PWD
