DKA

Questions:
  1. As a part of your protocol for DKA or suspected DKA, are you obtaining osmolality? If your system uses a calculated osmolality, what calculation do you use?
  2. Have you been monitoring for Hyperglycemic hyperosmolar syndrome (HHS) or mixed DKA/HHS in your patients with diabetes?
  3. If you are monitoring for HHS or DKA/HHS, what is your definition (what glucose, osmolality, etc do you use to characterize it)?
  4. Do you have a separate protocol for HHS, or do you make any modifications to your DKA protocol for those with HHS or hyperosmolality?
